Talking Points
Chris
Slotten is the Environmental Maniac.
Chris is a
“Pin-Ball Game” in a world of “Electric Trains.” According to Chris,
normal thought is like an electric train. Dyslexic thought is like a
pin-ball game. Chris says that dyslexia is his greatest gift. He can
reassemble pieces into a new “whole.” Then dyslexia becomes his
greatest detriment. He has to explain the new whole to the choo-choo
trains.
In 1972
while a senior at U.C. Irvine, when Greenhouse Gas/Global Cooling was
the theory, it had the same villain. So Chris built a car to meet 1986
air pollution requirements. What he learned three weeks after testing
was he didn’t understand the properties of metal alloys under extreme
heat and pressure. (In 1972 it was theorized that India and China would
starve to death by the year 2000. Do you know how China doubled their
rice production in one year?)
In 1994,
created the best multi-family recycling program in California and earned
the label “Recycling Maniac” from a Waste Management spokeswoman. Chris
was the maintenance man for 241 condos. It made good business sense
that if he diverted 50% of the garbage through recycling, the complex
would save 50% on their garbage bill. That was a $25,000 a year
savings. Recycling enough cardboard and newspaper to save 50,000 trees
was a side effect.
Last month
Chris reduced his air conditioning demand by 30%, yielding a
return-on-investment of 20-30%, by applying radiant barrier products to
his house. (That’s a big number in Phoenix.) If he helps a few million
other homeowners save 20-40%, the Country saves One Quadrillion BTUs of
energy. (That’s the equivalent of 17,000,000 barrels of oil.) Then if
51% of the profits of the One Quadrillion BTU Project go to college
engineering programs, you understand the One Quadrillion BTU Project.
Yes, Chris
does have solar-powered misters on his truck and a radiant barrier panel
over the cab.
Yes, Chris
has a “dual-pump, 5 stages, 250 PSI, remote controlled, 950,000 BTU
backyard cooling system at his house.
The War:
No, Chris
will not talk about the war. Chris’s #1 son is in the Air Force and his
#2 Son is a Marine. #1 wants to be a pilot and #2 wants to standup for
his Country. He can’t keep the tears away when he thinks of his boys.
Politics:
Chris is a
JFK Conservative for 6 reasons. 1) National Defense: The Cuban Missal
Crises. No nukes in my backyard and No did mean I’ll push the big red
button. 2) Leadership: he gave us the moon. 3) The ROI
(return-on-investment) of tax breaks: The investment is cutting taxes.
The return is increased revenue to the Country. 4) Chris’s favorite:
“Ask not what your Country can do for you. Ask what you can do for your
Country.” 5) Socially aware. 6) Environmentally aware.
America is
a three class system. There is the pyramid of the lower and upper
classes with the ruling class on top. The ruling class talks to us in
sound bites and listens through surveys. Chris says he is happy at the
top of the lower class.
Global
Warming:
Chris
understands science, he’s not a scientist. (Is the objective of
education knowledge or action?) He does not say the current theory is
wrong. He does not have a better theory. He just does not understand
Global Warming. His big question about CO2/Greenhouse Gas/Global
Warming Theory is why are the icecaps melting where the Greenhouse
Gasses are the thinnest during summer and nonexistent during winter?
The
CO2/Greenhouse Gas/Global Warming theory is no longer science. It’s a
sacred cow. Science is void of emotion. Theoretical discovery is just
like building a jig-saw puzzle, only there’s no picture on the lid of
the box and no precut pieces. Sometimes when you find a new piece, you
have to reshape a piece already in the puzzle.
If you
understand the comparison between a match and a forest fire, Chris will
tell you he knows what Mosses felt like.
