You Can't WIN if you don't know the Rules

Soon, the next generation, the high-school students of today, will be taking over the control of our environment.

That’s a frightening thought.

They’ve never learned the rules to success.

It’s not because of bad teachers or bad schools.  It’s because it’s not politically correct to tell the truth.

I’ll tell you two things about the truth.  The second one is that it will set you free.  The first is that it will piss you off.

The truth is that our Nation spends more on education than any other country and produces the worst results.  Worse yet, we spend more on prisons than on schools.

We have blamed everyone except the students and the parents.

Someone forgot to tell everybody that the Government, the schools, the teachers can not force anyone into becoming successful.

We forgot to tell everybody that the rich get richer because they know how.  The poor get poorer because they know how.  The Government doesn’t teach how to become rich, the rules to success, because either our Government doesn’t know the rules or it doesn’t want us to know.

If you’re going to play to win, you need to know the rules.

Here's a good start.

It’s up to you.

You need to be mentally tough to succeed in anything.  You need to control your emotions or your emotions will control you.  You need to control your body or your body will control you.  You need to control your mind.  It is your biggest asset.

You need to work hard

There are 168 hours in a week.  If you use 68 hours sleeping and eating, you have 100 hours left.  How you use those hours will determine your future.  When you work more than the average, you get more than average.

Mental Push-Ups are critical

There are only two ways to make money: neck down and neck up.  Neck down is limited.  Neck up is unlimited.  The more an athlete trains, the better they perform.  The more you exercise your brain, the better it will serve you.

Reading is critical

Leaders are readers.  Reading exercises the part of your brain used in problem solving and problem solving, not problem identifying, creates success.

If you want more, you must become more

Internal change must precede external change or the external change won’t stick.

4 out of 5 who win the Lottery are financially worst off 5 years later.

16 out of 17 who inherit money die broke.

Becoming more means growth

There is no growth without struggle.  No Pain, No Gain.  Sorry, those are the rules.  But there is struggle without growth…blame someone else for your struggles.

If you numb the pain with drugs, alcohol, TV or video games, it only postpones the problem.  It will wait for you.

Do you know what you get once you conquer one struggle?

A Bigger One.

That means, if you are doing it right, you will always be facing the biggest struggle of your life…but they will matter less and less.

Before you follow

Before you follow anyone’s advice, make sure they are where you want to be,

because if you follow their advice, you’ll be where they are.

Check the fruit on the tree before you climb out on the branch.

Hangout with success

Association is a key to success.  If you hangout with successful people, it helps you learn how to become successful.

The 6 “P’s”

Prior Planning Prevents Piss Poor Performance

The 4 “F’s”

Foul up, Find out, Fix it, FAST

Lead by Example

Words are cheap.  Actions are rare.  Results are valuable.

No one has become a success on their own.  No One.

Start where you are

Where you are is exactly the right place to start.

Where you’ve been matters less than where you go.

Focus on where you want to go

When you develop an “all consuming passion”,

there is less “have to” and more “want to”.

Persist

If it was easy, it would have little value.

Success is a long series of “learning experiences” (mistakes)

Celebrate your victories

Always remember to be thankful for all that you have,

it will attract more to you.

Get Started

Now you are ready to start.

Abraham Lincoln said, “A journey of 1,000 miles begins with one step.”

Test the rules.

Try doing more homework than you are required.  See what happens.

When you get results, lead your friends into doing more.

When your class is doing more, see how much your teachers improve.

Also notice that some students aren’t will to even try.

In the real world, they will be left behind until they learn the rules.

What does all this have to do with helping the environment?

If a 1,000 students turn off their TVs or video games for one hour a day to do more home work,

that group of students saves the energy equivalent to one barrel of oil a week.

It's up to YOU
