In the beginning, there
were four Kyoto Protocol greenhouse gasses...
Methane and CO2 were the
only two most people knew.
Methane was the most evil
because it reflected 20-28 times more radiant energy
than CO2. The silly 'Brits' even tried to pass a
'cow-fart tax'. The YouTube videos of the farmers'
revolts are humorous viewing.
Then the 2007 U.N. IPCC
Report came out. Report 2, page 142 documented
that Methane's rate of growth had diminished and for
most of this decade Methane had a 'negative growth
rate.' It is interesting that the report didn't
say Methane was decreasing, it said it had a negative
growth rate. It's had for believers to even speak
the words 'decreasing greenhouse gas', even when it's
true.
The official IPCC
response was, “The reasons for the decrease in the
atmospheric CH4 growth rate and the implications
for future changes in its atmospheric burden are
not understood (Prather et al., 2001) but are
clearly related to changes in the imbalance between CH4
sources and sinks.”
The quote is from Prather
et al., 2001. In 2001 Prather saw the changes and
couldn't understand them and in 2007 when the IPCC
Report was published, Methane's decreases were still not
understood.
Most of the time, when an
outcome differs from the theory, the theory is
re-evaluated. Instead, Methane was eliminated from
the current Cap and Trade considerations.
Now it's just CO2.
Why are they picking on CO2?
Partly because of the
famous ice core samples that are used to document the
serious increase in CO2 over the last 50,000 years.
But greenhouse gas is
not evenly distributed around the planet. The
ice core samples are only relative to where they are
sampled. Review the graphs at the bottom of this
page.
Partly because of the
famous 'hockey stick' on the CO2 graph that indicated
the rate of CO2 growth was dangerously out of control.
According to the U.N. IPCC Report, the rate of growth
peaked between 1998-2000 and has diminished.
CO2 is only .038% of the
atmosphere. The increase since 1950, according to
NASA, has been 10%. If all that increase is
attributed to man, it means man's influence is .0038% of
the atmosphere. That's like comparing a nickel
against a $1,000 bill. In most neighborhoods, if
someone drops a nickel and it rolls under a bush, and
they bend down to look, and find a $1,000 bill, they
stop looking for the nickel.
To put more perspective
on CO2, humans exhale 1 kilogram of CO2 every day.
6.6 million people on earth exhale 6.6 Metric Tons of
CO2 each day. A British study found that more CO2
was emitted, per mile, by a man walking vs. a economy
car driving.
CO2 has never caused
global warming. It is caused by global warming.
The next time graphs of global temperatures and CO2
levels shown, overlay the two graphs and it becomes
obvious that first the planet temperature increases,
then CO2 increases. Or review the graphs below.
This is really simple.
When the sun belches, the oceans exhale greenhouse gas.
When the sun mellows, the oceans inhale greenhouse gas.
Why is all the interest
on CO2?
